We believe leadership is an important driver of development in PNG. The country faces a raft of complex cultural, linguistic, resource, political, community, environmental and sustainability issues. Effective leaders are ones that understand this context, and can influence direction setting, strategy, make complex decisions, develop people, and conduct themselves in an appropriate manner. Our leadership program identifies promising PNG leaders and improves their leadership knowledge, development and capacity. The program develops attitudes, concepts, connections, and the confidence needed to stand tall and lead change in Papua New Guinea.
Leaders matter; particularly in the developing world. Leaders shape institutions and economic conditions, affect the quality of governance and impact the prospects for further development in PNG. Through a rigorous process we identify and build the future leaders of PNG. Our Archer Scholars are final year tertiary students who have demonstrated unquestioned commitment to their studies, communities and country.
