Help to employ a FODE Trainer at the Kokoda College
FODE stands for Flexible Open Distance Education and allows for students who never completed their Grade 12 Certificate to do so. New admission guidelines introduced by the Department of Education state that teacher trainees must have a minimum of a Grade 12 Certificate in order to be able to study Elementary Teaching.
We know that many people from rural and remote communities who want to be elementary teachers have not completed their Grade 12 certificate and as such are now deemed ineligible to be able to study. Our new FODE course at the Kokoda College is opening new opportunities for the rural and remote community members to complete their Grade 12 and then go on to study teaching (or health work, or anything they set their minds to).
