“The right to health includes access to timely, acceptable, and affordable care of appropriate quality”. World Health Organisation
The people of PNG are struggling with the provision of their health. A growing population is putting intense pressure on the services available to PNG communities. Aid posts are commonly understaffed and under resourced, and many close due to financial problems.
KTF is working closely with communities to significantly increase access to primary healthcare across remote and rural areas. Together we plan and provide services that best meet the people’s needs. KTF’s support includes providing community health workers with salary support and professional development opportunities. We also provide aid posts with grants for medical resources and supplies. KTF is strengthening the implementation, performance and accountability of community aid posts in rural and remote areas. This includes water and sanitation infrastructure and solar solutions. In doing so, KTF is helping to facilitate the improvement, reach, and access of rural and remote primary health services.
