Buna Health Centre team are ready to stop the spread
At the end of a busy distribution schedule, involving deliveries to aid posts and colleges along the Kokoda Track and through to Papua New Guinea’s Northern Beaches, KTF Project Officer Grayson delivered hygiene and medical supplies and awareness messaging to Buna Health Centre this week. Critical PPE was also delivered, thanks to the Northern Province Health Authority.
Our team of health workers now have resources to help support their community through the State of Emergency COVID-19 shutdown, practicing good hygiene and social distancing.
Buna is a busy health centre, with Community Health Workers Colin, Maggie, Rodney and Thomas serving a community of 6,000 from in and around the coastal village, the scene of great battles against the Japanese during World War II.
The health centre is a great example of partnership, with the new Buna facility built by our partners DFAT's Kokoda Initiative and No Roads Foundation in 2018. We have been operating the health centre for the past 8 years with the support of many individuals and donors including our friends at Lions Club of Park Orchards and Getaway Trekking.
The team are now ready to support their community through this emerging health challenge.
