Mentoring begins for 2022 Archer Leaders
For its twelfth year, KTF is delighted to announce the incredible group of mentors for the 2022 Archer Leaders Development Program; a program that has identified nine extraordinary young leaders of the future who are currently in their final year of tertiary studies in PNG and takes them on a one-year leadership development journey.
An essential component to the program is matching the Archers with an incredible mentor, with parings based on their field of study. The mentors, with their professional background and experience, will help to maximise the personal, leadership and professional potential of the Archer Leaders though their work together.
Mentors come from a range of backgrounds from business, government and the for-purpose sector. They are leaders who have an extensive experience and knowledge in PNG and understand the challenges of leadership that come with it. Through this component of the program, students will be guided, supported, and coached by their mentors throughout the year.
KTF is thrilled to welcome this year’s mentors to the program:
Ben Likia (Mine Technical Services Manager at Newcrest) is mentoring John Kawagle (Engineering)
Tim Bryson (Strategic Engagement Advisor at Newcrest) is mentoring Brian Wala (Engineering)
Sally Dawkins (Director, WA State Office at the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) is mentoring Eunice Wangu (Law)
Louise Carroll (Specialist Asset Management at BHP) is mentoring Grace Mageo (Engineering)
Felix Kipalan (Manager for Social Performance at Newcrest) is mentoring Nelson Kokoa (Chemistry)

Meghan Toka (Managing Director at Fairfax Consultants) is mentoring Magdalene Webster (Medicine)
Amaechi Nwokolo (Senior Corporate Counsel at Newcrest) is mentoring Nathan Kiali (Law)
Mike Nelson (COO at KTF) is mentoring Jebby Lulue (Dental Surgery)
Together, Archer Leaders and their mentors will explore the concept of leadership using the framework of “Adaptive Leadership Model” from Harvard University. The leadership development program will also support the Archers with tuition and boarding fees, educational resource support, work experience placements, an exchange trip to Australia and seed funding and support for a community development project in a community of choice.
Dr Genevieve Nelson, CEO of KTF says:
“I am delighted to announce that we have matched our incredible 2022 group of Archers with their mentors.
Chosen from an outstanding group of applicants, our Archer Leaders are all inspirational; in good company with the exceptional calibre of the mentors joining us this year. Our cohort of mentors are again a combination of first-timers and people who have mentored before, and we thank each and every one of you for signing up to the task and joining the KTF family! A special thanks goes to Newcrest Mining for not only supporting the program financially, but providing access to a range of wonderful mentors.”
The Archer Leadership Development Program is made possible thanks to the support of the Fred P. Archer Trust (via Perpetual) and Newcrest Mining. KTF is thankful for the constant support of these partners and their ongoing generosity in funding the Archer Leaders Development Program.
