VHA Program

In partnership with Australian Doctors International (ADI), KTF is delivering the VHA Program which will increase demand, uptake and access to routine immunisations, and maternal and child health services in the remote areas of Emo River, Itokama, Safia, Kira and Sangara in Oro Province.

Key program outcomes include:

  1. Provincial Health Workers empowered to deliver maternal & child health services

  2. Improved routine immunisation services, including integration of COVID-19 vaccinations

  3. Increased health promotion and awareness to encourage health-seeking behaviour

Travelling across incredibly challenging terrain throughout Oro Province targeting zero-dose and low-dose villages, KTF is boosting immunisation rates and delivering health promotion and Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) education to these remote communities. Our dedicated health team, uses diverse transport methods, including vehicles, trekking, and even horseback riding, to navigate rivers, marshlands, and dense bush. Enabling them to bring essential health services directly to these isolated villages, some of which have been without healthcare for years.

Generously supported by the Australian Government, The VHA program is implemented in partnership with Australian Doctors International and the Northern Provincial Health Authority.
